I cant say that I felt bad when I heard the news that Ken Lay died of a massive heart attack, and in fact I am so cynical these days part of me still wonders if he is faking his death to avoid jail time or if he was whacked to keep him from telling where the bodies were buried. Either way, those who were seeking justice in the Enron case will not see any of it in Ken Lay.
I was not one of those who lost money in Enron, but for all those people who suffered and lost everything there must have been some satisfaction in knowing that Ken Lay was going to go to jail for what he did to those people. Lets be honest, when people suffer, they want those who caused the suffering to suffer as well, and the justice system was going to deliver on this need.
Yet Lay, who dodged responsibility for so long, was able to escape in final dramatic act, leaving investors to mumble to themselves that even though Lay is dead, he got off too easy.
Make no mistake my friends, Lay is one of the all-time scumbags. I remember him appearing on the Christian talk shows, where they anointed his bald head with Holy oil and spoke of how he was Gods man in the business world. What a fucking hypocrite he was and proof of the gullibility of the fundamentalist tube-zombies.
He was a disgrace to the Lone Star State, and of course he was a huge financial backer of David Dewhurst, GW Bush, Tom DeLay, and other corrupt pillaging corporate fatcats.
And so Ken Lay, I will not be arrogant enough to give an opinion on where you should be spending eternity, but I know many of those who you cheated are hoping the prison you escaped here on Earth is replaced with solitary confinement in the hottest region of Hell.
