In the news we see women being refused permission to board airliners because they are sexy. Not that any crucial parts of their anatomy are being revealed - simply because they are too sexy to fly on a plane - although a few years ago, you couldn't get a job as a stewardess unless you looked hot in the miniskirt uniform. What the fuck is going on?
It's time to recognize that we are under attack by fundamentalist lunatics who want to impose their beliefs on everyone. As El Presidenté is fond of saying, "They hate us 'cause we're free."
The moral crusaders in this country hate the freedom an American has to drink a beer, smoke a cigarette, dress up sexy, play loud music, and dance wildly in the moonlight. Just like their counterparts in the Taliban, they are working feverishly to create a society of haters that conforms to their regressive religious beliefs.
Yes, those beliefs are exactly the same as those other fundamentalists, personified by Osama Bin Laden. They both want women to shut up and stay at home, homosexuality criminalized, alcohol banned, preachers glorified, and religious commands enacted as laws. Both groups proclaim that they are "God's chosen people".
Students of history will recall that these folks are usually wrong. They once said the Earth was flat. They jailed Galileo and Gutenburg. They held witch trials. They quoted from their Bibles in support of slavery. Pastors led the fight against airplanes, electricity, computers, and automobiles, in each case claiming they were "tools of Satan". These are the ones who believed Bush when he said "God told him to invade Iraq". They even refer to themselves as "sheep", who follow wherever their misguided leaders take them. They have a long history of being wrong nearly every time. Yet almost every day we hear of one of these leaders, Senators, Pastors, and other "Family Values" guys, caught doing things so creepy that they are seldom seen among the unwashed heathens.
So, religious fanatics, I accuse you of being the enemies of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I accuse you of disloyalty to the founding principles of this nation - which was started by people wishing to escape from the persecutions of the church-state in England. I accuse you of infiltrating our government and poisoning it with the same moral agenda held by our terrorist enemies. I accuse you of being the most dangerous anti-American element in our society.
And I accuse you - most of all - of being fools.
