Who is the greatest bartender?
On Saturday, March 22nd Nightmoves will host our 5th annual Bartenders Invitational drink mixing competition at the Palmer Club in Texas City. Formerly, this was a bloody Mary competition, but this year it’s going freestyle. Last year’s champion bartender, the outrageous Miss Margaret from Murphys On Main will crown the new champ. All bartenders may compete and represent their home bar, no entry fee, $100 cash + consolation prizes for all contestants. Live music by the maestros of classic rock, Wiseguy.

Where in the Hell is San Leon?
On Saturday, April 19th we’ll be doing a major event at Waynos, the 10th Annual Where In The Hell Is San Leon music fest and Mayoral election. There will be live music from the San Leon Beach Band, J Dot, Los Vertigos, The Convertibles, and Counsel. It’s always a great party that’s held outdoors on the deck in downtown San Leon.

If you got em, smoke em:
Sunday, May 25th at the Ramblin Rose in Pasadena, Nightmoves is hosting the Smoke-In, a celebration of the rights of smokers. Most US Presidents have been smokers, although they tend to stay “in the closet” nowadays. Candidate Barack Obama is a smoker (I knew I liked that guy for some reason.) Hilary used to smoke, but never inhaled. McCain smokes a pipe. Kucinich most likely smokes weed. The event will feature top artists from Galveston’s Gulf Coast Music, home of Bert Wills, 98 In The Shade, Janet Z, MP2 and other great local & regional acts.

Thanks for the drinking money:
Our web hosting company, ServerTX.com, is looking like it might be the next Google. In January, we added two new servers to our array off SW Freeway. This month, February, we have already added 3 more, and are operating at full capacity (60% of resources). There is now a waiting list for the $9.95 web sites, so we have had to turn down most businesses located outside of Texas, at least for the time being. Meanwhile, we have been experiencing incredible good fortune with our new dual Xeon servers, with zero downtime since March of 2007. Everyone is planning a big celebration if we can actually go an entire year without any downtime, as this would be something no one, not even giants like Microsoft and Yahoo, has ever done. Yes, luck is involved, but so is a lot of  hard work and good ideas.

From the San Leon Rum factory:
A new drink called the Monk Parakeet
1 shot Railean Rum
1/2 shot Melon Liqueur
Pineapple/Orange Juice
7-Up or Sprite
Serve over ice

(After all, MONKS *were* once renowned brewmeisters!)
